Field Service Engineer/Technician, North East USA (Finance)

We are growing and seeking talented individuals! If you have a strong understanding of coordinate systems, CAD experience, and enjoy fixing things, this career might be for you!

Location: Candidates must reside in PA, MD, or VA.

Are you the go-to person among friends and family for electronics and technology advice? We need someone with a solid background in Windows and mechanical aptitude to install and service laser-based equipment with vision systems. This role involves extensive travel—up to 75% within North America—ideal for those who love travel but prefer to be home on weekends. You'll receive training and work in a fast-paced, innovative environment, continuously learning new skills. When not traveling, you will work remotely from your home office supporting our global customers.

Responsibilities
  1. System Installation and Training
  • Install and train customers on laser and vision-based systems across various environments and industries.
  • Calibrate and commission new hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Conduct multi-day training, including classroom theory and hands-on machine learning for operators and maintenance staff.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety procedures.
  • Document customer applications and contribute to product development and bug resolution.
  1. On-site Service & Troubleshooting
  • Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of electro-optic and electronic components.
  • Maintain and repair control systems and integrated components.
  • Implement preventative maintenance and keep records.
  • Provide support via phone and online as needed.
  1. Remote Support
  • Offer remote technical support through various channels.
  • Occasionally handle after-hours support calls.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and data entry.
  • Manage travel expenses and participate in product testing.
Requirements

General

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Photonics, or related field.
  • Multilingual skills (Spanish or French) are a plus.
  • Experience in technical service or customer-facing roles is beneficial.
  • Strong spatial awareness and ability to think in 3D.
  • Self-motivated, independent, with excellent communication skills.
  • Safety conscious.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Windows and MS Office/Google Workspace.
  • Ability to interpret NC programming languages like G-Code.
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting and CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk, Creo, CATIA) is advantageous.

Technical Aptitude

  • Understanding of 3D coordinate systems and technical documentation.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and reading electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment and portable CMMs is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Travel up to 75%, primarily within the USA, with some international travel.
  • Work at heights from 1.6-15m and in varied environments, including outdoors.
  • Flexible hours outside standard business times.
  • Located within 1 hour of a major airport.
