Job summary

Saab West Lafayette in Indiana seeks a Technical Writer to join our team responsible for the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk program. The writer will serve as a local SME for technical writing, guide inspectors, and report performance to leadership across shifts.

Key duties include generating NCRs, Inspection/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions, while aligning with ISO/AS quality requirements. Strong written communication and self-driven collaboration with a global team are essential.

Qualifications

• AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required.
• Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required
• Ability to interpret and revise written documentation / work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition is critical.
• Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving
• Ability to be self-driven and deliver high-quality results across a global team

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/training for inspectors across multiple shifts
• Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership
• Identify common quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Develop best practices for technical writing and maintain/update them as needed
• Generate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Inspection/Control Plans, FAIs, and MRB dispositions
• Develop knowledge of customer/industry quality requirements and ensure compliance
