Job summary

SAIC in Newport, RI is hiring a Test Engineer/Technical Writer to support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Propulsion Test Facility. You will work on documenting maintenance and test procedures for torpedo propulsion and R&D systems, collaborating with engineers, technicians and Test Directors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with two years or more experience, or equivalent.
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Proficient with Word, Excel, and 365 applications.
Ability to learn, understand and communicate complex systems.
Able to work independently, manage concurrent tasks, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Ability to extract technical content from SMEs to document test procedures.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with engineers, technicians and SMEs to write, edit, test and verify maintenance and test procedures.
Communicate with Test Directors to understand schedules and documentation needs; conduct walkthroughs and reviews.
Editing and proofing technical documentation to support change requests while ensuring standards are followed.
