Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks a technical writer to develop ship-specific manuals from engineering data, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and industry standards. You will translateVendor and OEM documentation into clear manuals and align them with Logistics Support Information.

You will work with customers, regulators, engineering, supply chain, program management, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate content and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field such as Communication, English, Journalism, or a technical discipline.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, and related documents.
• Strong written and verbal English with attention to detail and ability to translate technical concepts into clear content.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to produce consistent, contract-compliant manuals.

Responsibilities

• Researches and develops preliminary and final technical manuals in accordance with provided standards and procedures with supervision.
• Reviews equipment and special purpose manuals for content and format.
• Translates complex technical information into clear documentation for ship systems.
• Coordinates with various stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with contract requirements.
• Contributes to ad hoc documentation projects and team-based tasks.
