Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Technical Writer to create and edit product documentation for researchers, bioinformaticians, clinicians, and others. You will collect data from SMEs, manage content in XML/DITA and MadCap Flare, and release finished materials while maintaining records.

You should have 3+ years in technical writing in biotech or related fields, strong editorial skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as a technical writer in biotech/healthcare/software/hardware.
• Experience writing product user documentation.
• Understanding of tech writing principles, content management, and reuse is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, write, and edit technical documentation for diverse scientific audiences.
• Collect data by interviewing specialists, researching materials, attending trainings, and observing users.
• Work with XML-based content development systems, adhering to standards for terminology and reuse.
• Release finished documentation and maintain records of materials, drafts, and versions.
• Demonstrate strong domain expertise in modern standards for technical writing and content technology.
• Quickly learn and apply new tools, processes, and standards.
• Be adaptable and forward thinking amid change and collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
