The role involves developing clear, accurate, and practical developer documentation covering cloud applications, APIs, command-line interfaces (CLIs), and platform features. Responsibilities include independently managing documentation projects, translating complex engineering concepts into accessible technical content, and helping developers understand how to deploy and manage applications in a cloud environment.

The position works closely with product engineers, designers, developer communities, and support teams to improve documentation quality and usability. Technical content is written in Markdown, maintained in a public GitHub repository, and published through a static site generator using pull requests. The role also involves improving CLI help documentation, supporting engineering contributions, and turning developer feedback and technical discussions into useful documentation.

What You'll Do
  • Write, edit, organize, and maintain technical documentation that helps developers deploy, configure, and manage applications on a public cloud platform.
  • Create comprehensive developer documentation for APIs, command-line interfaces (CLIs), user interfaces (UIs), and cloud platform features.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, engineering functionality, and application deployment workflows into clear, accurate, and accessible documentation.
  • Independently plan, prioritize, and execute documentation projects from initial requirements through writing, review, and publication.
  • Work directly with product engineers to understand new features, investigate technical behavior, gather information, and validate documentation accuracy.
  • Help engineers create and maintain high-quality documentation by providing editorial guidance, documentation standards, and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with designers to improve the structure, presentation, usability, and effectiveness of API documentation.
  • Improve command-line help content, including CLI --help output, to make technical commands and platform functionality easier for developers to understand.
  • Research and test platform features directly, using hands-on experimentation to verify technical instructions and document practical workflows.
  • Create and update Markdown documentation in a GitHub repository, submitting changes through pull requests and publishing approved content through a static site generator.
  • Work with developer communities to identify common technical questions, understand user challenges, and turn valuable forum discussions into actionable documentation.
  • Support customer-facing teams by developing documentation that answers recurring technical questions and improves self-service troubleshooting.
  • Review documentation contributions from engineers and other collaborators, applying editorial standards while maintaining a constructive and flexible feedback process.
  • Communicate documentation progress, technical findings, project decisions, and unresolved issues clearly in an asynchronous work environment.
  • Continuously expand documentation coverage as cloud platform capabilities evolve and new application deployment patterns emerge.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written English, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, natural, and approachable style.
  • Strong technical writing and information organization skills, including the ability to identify and present relevant details without unnecessary complexity.
  • Technical aptitude and comfort working with command-line tools, navigating codebases, and contributing documentation for APIs, CLIs, and UIs.
  • Ability to research unfamiliar technologies, ask effective technical questions, and investigate product functionality independently.
  • Hands-on problem-solving skills, including the ability to learn software features through experimentation and trial and error.
  • Ability to create coherent developer documentation that addresses practical user needs and supports successful application deployment and management.
  • Strong technical editing skills, with the ability to prioritize improvements, apply writing guidelines flexibly, and incorporate feedback.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, progress updates, technical questions, and project challenges effectively through written communication.
