Technical Writer - AI Governance (Remote)

Pay: $75 - 85/HR
Duration: 2 months

Estimate 12-24 hours/week through September 2025.

Top 3 Nice to Have Skill Sets:

  • Knowledge of AI Regulation (e.g., European Union AI Act, Colorado AI Act) and AI Governance Frameworks (e.g., National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Risk Management Framework) strongly preferred.
  • Experience writing or operationalizing data privacy policies or procedural documents is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications such as Board of Editors in the Life Sciences, American Medical Writers Association, or related to procedural document writing or data science are preferred.

Job Description:

The Technical Writer II (contractor) in the CDS Bridge Process Development department will support the development of a policy and procedural document for the Enterprise Data Science Council (EDSC). The EDSC is a cross-functional body leading enterprise data and AI policies at Gilead. The focus will be on responsible AI use and lifecycle processes for AI Use Cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to efficient content creation of draft procedural documents based on key messages and expert input.
  • Edit and incorporate reviewer comments into policies and procedures.
  • Lead comment reconciliation meetings to align with cross-functional teams.
  • Track feedback, updates, and communicate resolutions.
  • Ensure clarity, conciseness, and technical accuracy of documents.
  • Maintain consistency within and across documents.
  • Verify accuracy and compliance with style guides.
  • Manage multiple document updates, timelines, and action items.
  • Perform high-standard copy editing (grammar, syntax, punctuation, style, formatting).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to perform detailed, accurate, and efficient technical writing and editing.
  • Proficiency with MS Word; experience with document management systems and MS Office preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of AI regulations and frameworks strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and frameworks preferred.
  • Knowledge of drug development or GxP quality frameworks preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of medical or technical writing experience with policies or GxP documents.
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's or higher preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, law, tech, or data science organizations preferred.
  • Experience operationalizing data privacy policies preferred.
  • Relevant certifications preferred.

Required Years of Experience: 5 years of relevant writing experience.

  • Detail-oriented writing, reviewing, and editing skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and document management tools.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work on multiple projects under deadlines.
