Job Responsibilities

Client is seeking a skilled Technical Writer for a 3-4 month contract assignment to support the development and documentation of training content related to Workday for operations personnel, and to manage the interface and data integration between Workday and Vector Learning System Management (LSM). This role will bridge the gap between system functionality and end-user understanding, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and ease of adoption across manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in technical writing for enterprise systems, familiarity with Workday and learning management systems, and a collaborative mindset for working across technical, training, and operational teams.

  • Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation and training materials for Workday-related workflows specific to operations (hourly and salary users).
  • Create job aids, quick reference guides, e-learning modules, and step-by-step instructions tailored for various end-user groups.
  • Collaborate with HRIS, Operations, and Training teams to gather requirements and understand system usage.
Project Management
  • Manage documentation and process mapping of data flow between Workday and Vector LSM, ensuring alignment with system functionality and training needs.
  • Oversee and support the Workday-Vector LSM integration project from a documentation and training perspective, including developing timelines, tracking milestones, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring alignment with operational rollout schedules.
  • Monitor and support data integrity and synchronization between systems, escalating issues and collaborating with technical teams for resolution.
  • Act as a liaison between system owners, functional leaders, and operations to support configuration, communication, training rollout, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure documentation complies with Client's internal standards, branding, and instructional design best practices.

    • Provides project updates and deliverable status to internal leadership or project sponsors as required.

    • Determines structure, format, and delivery methods of training and technical documentation within approved guidelines.
    • Advises on best practices for documentation, content organization, and version control.
    • Escalates issues or risks to project leadership while recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  6. Time & Resource Management
    • Responsible for managing multiple documentation projects, timelines, and stakeholder reviews concurrently.
    • Prioritizes workload to align with training rollout schedules and system deployment phases.
    • Works independently while coordinating across departments to ensure timely and accurate content delivery.
  7. Tools & Technology
    • Uses Workday, Vector LSM, Microsoft Office Suite, and various content creation tools (e.g., Snagit, Articulate, Adobe Acrobat, Visio).
    • May engage in light system testing or sandbox usage to validate workflows during documentation development.
Software/Tools Used
  • Workday - Strong working knowledge of Workday modules (especially related to operations or talent management)
  • Any experience with SAP Success Factor will be extremely helpful
  • Vector LSM or similar LMS platforms.
  • MS Office Suite
  • Adobe Acrobat, and documentation tools (e.g., Snagit, Visio, Articulate, or similar)
