Managing the daily requirements for the PRG operated venue rigging contracts, ensuring all aspects of the work are carried out to the highest possible standards of safety in an effective and efficient manner while meeting and exceeding the client’s expectations. This role will oversee the rigging for all facilities at the National Western Center including multiple arena-style venues and over 200,000 square feet of expo space.

The Technical Venue Manager is the primary PRG point of contact for the client and manages freelance technical staff on-site. Although this position involves a high level of Rigging expertise, an overall understanding of venue technical management is preferable.

Essential Functions

  • Generate accurate event specific rigging overlays using rigging plots received from the client for the PRG contracted venues using Vector works.
  • Build equipment orders using PRG’s asset management software.
  • When required by the Venue, liaise directly with the incoming event Production Management and/or Production Rigger.
  • Carry out event rigging analysis, using bespoke software programs for each show taking place at the designated venue and communicate the results to venue operators.
  • For instances of structure overload offer rigging alternatives and solutions.
  • Manage the quoting of rigging equipment and labor to the sales team in an efficient manner, offering options for the number of staff required to complete the installation within different time periods.
  • Assist in quality control of rigging equipment between events, and minor repair work as required.
  • Promptly communicate any crew requirements to PRG Crew Services and assist with the booking of freelance rigging staff, ensuring that freelance PRG rigging staff attend the required venue specific induction sessions.
  • Attend production meetings at the venue when required to do so by venue and act as the rigging representative for the venue.
  • Attend the venue regularly, especially during times of high numbers of freelance riggers are on site (this will mean being available for early mornings or occasionally late evenings as required).
  • Manage the Venue supplied equipment (i.e., Radio and PPE), by carrying out regular inspections and reporting any defects or losses to the Venue.
  • Operate within the current Health and Safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment, reporting any Health and Safety issues to the Venue and maintaining the highest of safety standards.
  • Ensure all H&S Incidents and Injuries are reported correctly.
  • Review, update and communicate the operational Health and Safety at work procedures regularly.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of information relating to the company and its clients, projects and personal staff information.
  • Ensure that the Company’s policies, rules, procedures and obligations are observed in carrying out the above duties.

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in the live event’s industry or rigging related industries
  • Strong understanding of rigging principles, safety factors, weight load calculations and building structures is required
  • Comfortable working at heights from boom and scissor lifts.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Good computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications
  • Good aptitude to learn new computer software
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience in managing and motivating a team to achieve results is preferable

Physical demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Extensive typing required.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and in both written and verbal forms.


Travel Required

  • Must have Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel domestically with limited notice.


This position is full time in office based at the National Western Center in Denver CO.

The pay range for this position is estimated to be $120,000.00-135,000.00. Actual salary to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant combined with location and alignment with market data
