Confidential Defense Technology Company in Herndon, VA, onsite five days a week, seeks a hands-on Technical Systems Engineering Manager to orchestrate the integration, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment of advanced hardware/software systems.

You will act as a technical bridge between U.S. customers and an R&D/engineering team, diagnosing issues, performing root-cause analysis, and ensuring readiness for real-world use. Expect travel ~20% with occasional international trips.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with system integration, test, validation, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
• Defense, aerospace, weapons, sensors, electro-optics, RF, radar, robotics, or other complex hardware/software systems experience strongly preferred.

A growing defense technology company is seeking a hands-on Technical Systems Engineering Manager to support the integration, testing, troubleshooting, and successful deployment of advanced hardware/software systems.

This is a highly visible opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the product—not just managing requirements from a distance. You will work across engineering, operations, training, and customer stakeholders to ensure systems are integrated, tested, documented, and ready for real-world use.

What you’ll do:

What we’re looking for:

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with system integration, test, validation, troubleshooting, and technical documentation
• Defense, aerospace, weapons, sensors, electro-optics, RF, radar, robotics, or other complex hardware/software systems experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, build-from-scratch environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers, technical teams, and senior stakeholders
• U.S. citizenship required; an active security clearance is a plus
• Ability to work onsite in Herndon, VA five days per week and travel approximately 20%, including occasional international travel
