Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a Senior Technical Sales Leader for Grid Technologies in Raleigh, NC. You will steer the technical and commercial strategy for GIS and AIS substations, working with customers, engineering, and program teams to convert opportunities into successful projects.

You will analyze requirements, develop tailored solutions with pricing and contracts, and drive multi-million-dollar sales through POCs, negotiations, and bid management. Travel ~30% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 6+ years in technical sales, application engineering, or similar role in power transmission and distribution.
  • Proven success leading large, complex technical sales opportunities as SME.
  • Strong knowledge of substation products and design; GIS experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship management.
  • Business acumen with sales forecasting and project scheduling.

Imagine leading the sales strategy behind complex high-voltage substation projects valued from several million to hundreds of millions of dollars. You'll serve as the technical and commercial leader for GIS and AIS substation solutions, working closely with customers, engineering teams, suppliers, utilities, developers, and regulatory stakeholders to turn opportunities into successful projects. You will combine deep power systems expertise with strategic thinking to shape technical solutions, lead negotiations, and influence project outcomes. How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Lead the technical sales strategy for GIS and AIS substation projects, serving as the primary interface between customers and internal engineering, manufacturing, and program management teams.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop tailored substation solutions, including technical concepts, pricing considerations, and contractual approaches for large-scale proposals.
  • Drive multi-million-dollar sales opportunities through technical presentations, customer engagement, negotiations, and bid management activities.
  • Collaborate with proposal, contract, legal, and engineering teams to ensure technically sound, competitive, and compliant project submissions.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with utilities, developers, suppliers, business partners, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities and support business growth.
  • Develop sales forecasts, assess market trends, and create winning strategies that balance customer needs with business objectives.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 6 or more years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, or a similar customer-facing role within the power transmission and distribution industry. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
  • Proven success leading large, complex technical sales opportunities and serving as a trusted technical subject matter expert.
  • Strong knowledge of substation products and design, with experience in GIS solutions preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with expertise in sales forecasting, project scheduling, and developing strategic, solution-oriented approaches to customer needs.

Travel, as needed (~30%) domestically and internationally.
