About the Role

As a Technical Sales Manager at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in driving the specification of our electrical family of products under the Wheatland and Western brands. You will focus on building relationships with key architects, design engineers, and electrical contractors to promote steel conduit as the product of choice over competing wiring methods. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a high-energy, self-motivated environment, enjoys building lasting relationships, and is passionate about advancing product specifications in the construction industry.

Shift: Full-time

Pay: $120,000 - $145,000 (Sales Incentive and Monthly Car Allowance included)

What You'll Do
  1. Promotes Zekelman-brand steel conduit and specialty products to key clients, ensuring products are specified or preferred on major commercial construction projects.
  2. Develops and maintains relationships with architects, design engineers, and electrical contractors, focusing on solidifying product acceptance and specifications.
  3. Monitors national and local building codes, working with code-making officials to ensure Zekelman products remain the preferred choice.
  4. Promotes product portfolio during contractor/engineer luncheons, tradeshows, and seminars to increase product visibility and demand.
  5. Demonstrates product benefits and trains electrical contractors on proper installation techniques, ensuring successful project implementation.
  6. Actively participates in key industry associations, including national and local events such as National Electrical Code Educational Conferences.
  7. Addresses and resolves field claims from electrical contractors, providing support and ensuring satisfaction with product performance.
  8. Monitors and reports on competitive technical activity, promotional programs, and fire code issues to maintain a competitive edge.
  9. Collaborates with the marketing team to conduct market research and drive product development and promotions.
  10. Solicits, generates, and communicates new product concepts to the product development team to expand Zekelman's product offerings.
  11. Supports Sales/Marketing team objectives and initiatives, contributing to overall business goals.
Who You Are
  • 10+ years of experience working with architects, engineers, and contractors in the electrical industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Technical Skills - Familiarity with electrical conduit specifications, building codes, and industry regulations.
  • Soft Skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills, public speaking, strong listening, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to travel within the US frequently (up to 75%).
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs for product samples and presentation equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000 USD. Additional compensation may include:

  • Sales Incentive & Monthly Car Allowance
  • Performance-based yearly merit-increase
