Job summary

MDS Staffing has a direct-hire opening for a Mechanical Engineer / Applications Specialist in the Washington County, WI area. This on-site role blends technical sales consulting with mechanical design, supporting 75% engineering advisory work and 25% design and fast, automated quoting.

You will engage clients daily, configure custom thermal/fluid systems, and generate quotes while collaborating with manufacturing to meet lead times.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years mechanical engineering experience.
• 2+ years of direct technical inside sales, proposals, or applications engineering.
• Ability to manage 20-25 daily client touchpoints with clear technical and financial benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead 20-25 daily technical client consultations via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
• Specify and configure thermal/fluid systems to fit client needs.
• Generate rapid technical quotes, system proposals, and ROI models.
• Perform value engineering and blueprint analysis for internal teams.
• Bridge Sales and Plant Floor to ensure lead times and fabrication fit.
• Present detailed specs and compliance data to client executives.
