Alpha Executive Search is assisting a global leader in food manufacturing in seeking a Technical Safety Manager to lead multi-site EHS initiatives and drive safety excellence in the Western Chicago Suburbs, IL, with relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.

• 8+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience in manufacturing.
• Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installations, automation, and machine safety.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations, ISO Safety of Machinery, NFPA.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, vendor specs, and commissioning plans.
• Leadership experience managing and developing EHS professionals.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety integration for capital projects, installations, automation, and process changes.
• Ensure equipment safety compliance with OSHA, ISO, NFPA and corporate standards.
• Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, startup readiness reviews, and commissioning verification.
• Develop and standardize machine safety requirements, LOTO programs, guarding, and engineering controls.
• Review drawings and vendor documents to embed safety in every project.

As the company continues to invest in new technologies, automation, and capital projects, they are seeking an experienced Technical Safety Manager to lead multi-site safety initiatives and help shape the future of manufacturing safety.

This position is based in the western suburbs of Chicago, and relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll partner with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance while leading a team of EHS Managers to ensure new production lines, equipment, and process improvements are designed, installed, and commissioned safely while maintaining compliance with OSHA, ISO, and NFPA standards.

Some of What You'll Do

• Lead safety integration for capital projects, equipment installations, automation, and process changes.
• Ensure new and existing equipment complies with OSHA, ISO Safety of Machinery, NFPA, and corporate safety standards.
• Conduct safe design reviews, hazard analyses, risk assessments, startup readiness reviews, and commissioning verification.
• Develop and standardize machine safety requirements, LOTO programs, machine guarding, and engineering controls.
• Review engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and vendor documentation to ensure safety is built into every project.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance to implement sustainable risk-reduction strategies.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience supporting capital projects, equipment installations, automation, and machine safety.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations, ISO Safety of Machinery standards, NFPA requirements, machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard/risk assessments, and engineering controls.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, vendor specifications, and commissioning plans.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing EHS professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• CSP, CIH, or other professional safety certification preferred.
