Job description

A Fortune 150 leader in heavy industrial manufacturing is seeking a motivated and hands‑on Safety Engineer to join its operations team. This role is responsible for driving safety excellence, supporting regulatory compliance initiatives, and partnering with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to create a world‑class safety culture.

The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety programs, and continuous improvement practices within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and reinforce a culture centered on safety, housekeeping, and operational excellence
  • Support operations, maintenance, and engineering teams with safety and ergonomic improvement initiatives
  • Interpret, implement, and communicate federal, state, and local OSHA regulations
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety training programs for employees
  • Review, develop, and implement safety policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and other required safety/environmental records
  • Partner with regulatory agencies and assist with audits, inspections, and compliance activities
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and loss prevention
  • Travel periodically to other manufacturing facilities as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience applying safety policies and loss prevention programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety regulations and compliance standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of industrial hygiene practices and safety testing procedures
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence teams, and promote accountability
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience conducting safety training and leading compliance initiatives
