Aretum is seeking a skilled and experienced Proposal Writer to assist in generating high-quality content for RFP responses for federal contracts. This is a 1099 Consultant role, ideal for candidates with a strong background in Infrastructure, Operations Center, Cloud Architecture, and proposal writing.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements. Additionally, all team members may be called upon to support proposal efforts as needed, including resume formatting, providing skills alignment summaries, participating in meetings, or contributing to solutioning activities based on subject matter expertise or functional experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit proposal content that is compliant, compelling, and tailored to each RFP.
- Research and incorporate relevant information, data, and statistics to enhance proposal content.
- Exhibit exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an emphasis on simplifying complex technical concepts into understandable language.
- Ensure proposed solutions comply with federal standards (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST, etc.).
- Develop technical solution architectures for enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with capture managers and pricing teams to align infrastructure solutions with competitive pricing strategies.
- Apply enterprise architecture frameworks (DoDAF, FEAF, TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) to structure proposed infrastructure solutions.
- Design transition plans for seamless implementation of new infrastructure services.
- Develop staffing models and support structures for 24/7 operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal contracting regulations and guidelines.
- Participate in proposal review meetings and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
- Assist in developing supporting materials such as executive summaries, past performance narratives, presentations, graphical content, and resumes for key personnel.
- Adhere to strict deadlines for content delivery and review.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in proposal writing, preferably for federal contracts.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an emphasis on simplifying complex technical concepts into understandable language.
- Ability to work with graphic designers to define, design, and develop presentation materials and graphical content.
- Strong understanding of federal procurement processes and contract vehicles.
- Ability to analyze RFPs and develop compliant and responsive proposals.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in multiple infrastructure domains.
- Experience with Service Desk and ITSM frameworks.
- Experience with Operations Center Design and Management (NOC/SOC).
- Knowledge of Cloud Services.
- Network architecture and management skills.
- End-user computing and desktop support experience.
- Knowledge of communication systems (VoIP, radio, microwave, cellular, etc.).
- Understanding of federal IT standards and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with federal agencies such as DoD, DHS, VA, FedCiv.
- Experience designing on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure.
- Understanding emerging trends relevant to government infrastructure (Zero Trust, SDN, hyperconvergence) — not mandatory.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is a remote/work-from-home position. Employees are expected to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office with reliable internet access and participate in video/audio calls during standard working hours. Standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and webcam will be used regularly.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computer and telephone equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving equipment).
- Ability to participate in virtual meetings and communicate clearly via video/audio platforms.
Travel Requirement
This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
