Job description

Lead firm-wide initiatives at a quantitative trading firm where technology and trading work hand in hand. In this role, you’ll drive complex, cross-functional projects spanning engineering, trading, risk, compliance, finance, and operations, and help shape how the organization delivers projects.

Our client is an established quantitative trading firm with more than two decades of market experience. They pair a high-performance technology platform with independent trading teams, giving portfolio managers the freedom to build their own teams and strategies while benefiting from the scale of a large, global organization. Their engineers tackle challenging problems in low-latency programming, FPGA technology, hardware acceleration, and machine learning. The culture is smart, driven, and collaborative, without the egos.

  • Join an established, global organization where you can grow personally and professionally.
  • Use your expertise in technical project management, financial markets, and software development to directly shape the platform and the business.
  • Do meaningful work with real visibility, partnering with trading, engineering, and business leaders across the firm.
  • Collaborate with bright, motivated people in a casual, open environment where everyone is respected, and great ideas win.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects at once, often with global, multi-functional teams across IT, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Ensure projects are initiated, analyzed, planned, and implemented to meet defined business objectives.
  • Gather and refine business requirements from every department, using your industry knowledge to ask the right questions.
  • Identify tactical vs. strategic solutions and clearly lay out the tradeoffs so stakeholders can make informed decisions.
  • Spot recurring technical debt and help guide prioritization of new projects to address it.
  • Build comprehensive project plans covering goals, timelines, resources, budgets, and risk mitigation, all aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional technical discussions and drive decisions on system upgrades, digital transformation, software implementation, and emerging fintech solutions.
  • Foster strong partnerships and communication across business units, regions, and external parties.
  • Contribute to a centralized PMO by standardizing project management practices and improving planning, tracking, and reporting across the firm.
  • Right-size administrative overhead for each project, keeping the focus on efficiency and execution first.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in a global financial environment or a technology-driven industry.
  • A computer science degree or equivalent, with a software development background through your degree or prior hands-on development roles.
  • Experience in the financial industry, specifically with front office market activities.
  • Proven ability to scope, manage, and execute multiple projects simultaneously, each with its own timeline.
  • Comfort pivoting quickly and staying focused in ambiguous, high-pressure environments.
  • Hands-on reporting and data analysis skills, including building progress reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Strong Excel skills, including data manipulation, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones as needed.
  • Eligibility to work in the US for any employer (sponsorship is not available).
  • Experience leading system upgrades, digital transformation, or fintech implementations.
  • A background building or standardizing PMO practices across an organization.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing technical debt in a fast-moving environment.
  • Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000 depending on experience.
  • Eligible for a discretionary bonus.
  • Generous paid time off, plus savings plans and financial wellness tools.
  • Hybrid schedule based in New York City’s Financial District.
  • Free breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily.
  • In-office wellness experiences and reimbursement for select wellness expenses, such as gym memberships and personal training.
  • Company-sponsored sports teams, fitness events, volunteer opportunities, and charitable giving.
  • Social events, celebrations, workshops, and continuous learning opportunities throughout the year.
