Job summary

PortalPlayer, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to drive planning and execution across our trading technology platform and infrastructure.

You will coordinate with software engineers, systems engineers, traders, and business stakeholders to translate complex objectives into clear plans and deliverables. You will learn our trading business, platform, and project portfolio within the first months, become familiar with active projects, and eventually own multiple initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of project management experience in software development, trading technology, or another technically complex environment.
• Demonstrated ability to drive complex projects from initial definition through successful delivery.
• Ability to translate business and technical objectives into clear requirements, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives without losing sight of details or broader objectives.
• Experience managing software development backlogs and facilitating effective planning and prioritization.
• Ability to identify dependencies, risks, and roadblocks early and drive them toward resolution.
• Strong judgment around priorities, tradeoffs, and when issues require escalation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to establish accountability and maintain momentum across teams without relying on direct reporting authority.
• Experience with Jira or comparable project and issue-tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Within 1 month, complete orientation and begin learning trading business, technology platform, and project portfolio.
• Within 3 months, become familiar with active projects, backlogs, and near-term priorities; participate in planning and prioritization.
• Within 6 months, take ownership of multiple technology initiatives, drive requirements, milestones, risks, and communication.
• Within 12 months, act as trusted owner of project execution across the technology organization and contribute to long-term roadmap planning.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Project Managers drive the planning and execution of technology initiatives across our proprietary trading platform and infrastructure. They work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, traders, and business stakeholders to turn complex objectives into well-defined plans, maintain focus on the highest-priority work, and drive projects through completion.

The Skillset

• 3+ years of project management experience in software development, trading technology, or another technically complex environment
• Demonstrated ability to drive complex projects from initial definition through successful delivery

Experience working within an electronic trading firm, financial markets, or another real-time production technology environment is strongly preferred.

What To Expect As a Project Manager

Within 1 month, you will complete your initial orientation and begin learning our trading business, proprietary technology platform, infrastructure, development organization, and project portfolio. You will meet stakeholders across technology and the business and develop an understanding of how work is planned, prioritized, and delivered.

Within 3 months, you will be familiar with our active projects, development backlogs, and near-term priorities. You will participate actively in planning and prioritization, begin improving project documentation and visibility, and establish working relationships with development teams, traders, and other stakeholders.

Within 6 months, you will take ownership of multiple technology initiatives, driving requirements, milestones, dependencies, risks, and communication from planning through delivery. You will independently facilitate development planning and help ensure that prioritized project work remains focused and on track. You will also study for and obtain your Series 57 Securities Trader Representative qualification, enabling you to work directly with our applications in the production trading environment.

Within 12 months, you will be a trusted owner of project execution across the technology organization. You will drive multiple concurrent initiatives of varying scope and complexity, improve the effectiveness of our planning and prioritization processes, and contribute to longer-term technology roadmap planning.
