Technical Program Manager, M&A Integration

Location: Remote (Austin, TX preferred, but not required)

Pay Rate: $103hr

Duration: 6-12 months (strong possibility of extension)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Program Manager, M&A Technology Integration to lead technology integration initiatives following company acquisitions. This role will oversee end-to-end integration planning and execution across IT Operations & Infrastructure, Business Applications, and Data & Analytics Engineering, ensuring acquired companies are successfully integrated into the organization’s systems, platforms, and processes with minimal business disruption.

The ideal candidate has personally led multiple end-to-end technology integrations following mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and can coordinate complex technical workstreams, drive executive-level decisions, and identify unresolved integration gaps and technical debt. This individual will establish repeatable integration frameworks and playbooks to improve the efficiency and consistency of future acquisitions.

This is a hands-on program leadership role requiring strong technical fluency, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to deliver results under compressed timelines and evolving priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end M&A technology integrations, developing and executing comprehensive integration plans from due diligence and initial planning through Day 1 readiness, systems migration, cutover, and post-integration stabilization.
  • Coordinate multiple technical workstreams, including IT Operations & Infrastructure (identity management, endpoints, networking, and security tools), Business Applications (ERP, CRM, HR, and finance systems), and Data & Analytics Engineering (data migration, pipelines, and reporting consolidation).
  • Manage integration milestones and dependencies, facilitating cross-functional working sessions, establishing sequencing and ownership, resolving blockers, and driving critical decisions to closure.
  • Oversee integration readiness and execution, monitoring go-live requirements, interim-state operations, target-state transitions, and cutover activities to minimize disruption to business operations.
  • Assess acquired technology environments to identify outstanding integration gaps, redundant systems, technical debt, and remediation requirements.
  • Manage risks, issues, budgets, and timelines, providing clear status updates, escalation plans, and executive reporting to integration leadership and executive sponsors.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment across engineering, IT, corporate development, integration management, finance, HR, and security teams to ensure integration requirements and priorities are addressed.
  • Evaluate technical plans and estimates, applying working knowledge of infrastructure, enterprise applications, and data platforms to identify gaps, challenge assumptions, and ensure realistic execution plans.
  • Develop standardized integration playbooks, governance processes, and templates to improve repeatability, accelerate future integrations, and establish consistent execution practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 7 years of technical program management experience , including direct leadership of at least 2-3 completed end-to-end M&A technology integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience personally leading technology integration initiatives following acquisitions, with clear ownership from initial planning and due diligence through migration, cutover, and post-integration stabilization.
  • Cross-functional technical program leadership spanning IT infrastructure and operations, enterprise business applications, and data platforms or analytics engineering.
  • Experience managing complex integration plans, technical dependencies, milestones, risks, issues, budgets, and go-live readiness.
  • Ability to assess acquired technology environments, identify unresolved integration issues and technical debt, and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills, including the ability to facilitate decisions across engineering teams, business leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, manage competing priorities, and deliver against compressed timelines.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technical teams and driving accountability without necessarily having direct management authority over individual contributors.
  • Experience integrating SaaS companies or software/technology businesses following acquisitions.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management consolidation, including Okta or comparable platforms.
  • Experience coordinating ERP, CRM, HR, or finance system migrations and consolidations.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms, data migration, analytics pipelines, and reporting consolidation.
  • Experience establishing or improving M&A integration management processes, governance frameworks, and reusable playbooks.
  • Experience identifying and prioritizing technical debt across previously acquired companies.
Soft Skills & Core Competencies
  • Strategic and analytical thinking: Evaluates complex technical environments, identifies integration gaps, and develops practical execution plans.
  • Executive presence: Communicates risks, trade-offs, recommendations, and progress clearly to senior leaders and executive sponsors.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Aligns engineering, IT, and business stakeholders around shared milestones and integration objectives.
  • Decision-making: Drives timely resolution of competing priorities, technical disagreements, and integration roadblocks.
  • Adaptability: Navigates ambiguity, shifting requirements, and compressed acquisition timelines while maintaining accountability.
  • Organization and execution: Manages multiple concurrent workstreams, dependencies, milestones, and competing deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement: Creates repeatable processes, templates, and playbooks that improve future integration outcomes.
Additional Information
  • Work Arrangement: Remote within the United States; Austin, TX is preferred but not required.
  • ++Interview Focus++: Candidates must be prepared to discuss 2-3 specific technology acquisitions they personally led, their end-to-end integration methodology, the technical workstreams they managed, their approach to identifying technical debt, and examples of resolving difficult integration decisions with executive stakeholders.
