Job summary

VS2 Technology is seeking a data-focused Technical Program Manager to drive large-scale data platform migrations on a 12–18 month contract. You will work remotely or in a hybrid setup, coordinating data engineers and analytics stakeholders to plan and execute complex data initiatives.

You do not need to code, but you must translate technical issues into clear business language, manage dependencies, and report program health to executives.

IMPORTANT: This is a DATA-focused Technical Program Manager role.

We are specifically looking for candidates who have hands-on program/project management experience working directly with DATA ENGINEERING teams and DATA PLATFORMS.

Candidates whose background is primarily general IT project management, application development, infrastructure, PMO, ERP, or non-data programs will not be a fit.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has managed technical programs involving data engineering, data platforms, data migrations, data pipelines, data warehouses, analytics platforms, or data transformation.

You do not need to be a developer or write code. However, you must be technically fluent enough to:

• Work directly with data engineers
• Understand data engineering terminology and concepts
• Discuss data pipelines, data platforms, dependencies, schemas, and migrations
• Understand cloud data warehouse environments
• Follow technical architecture and engineering discussions
• Identify technical risks and dependencies
• Translate technical issues into clear business and executive-level communication

Required Experience

Candidates should have:

• Direct experience managing programs/projects involving data engineering teams
• Experience with data platforms or data platform migrations
• Understanding of modern data architecture and data engineering concepts
• Experience with data warehouses, data pipelines, data transformation, analytics, or related data technologies
• Experience working with cloud data platforms
• Ability to communicate effectively with data engineers and technical leadership
• Strong program/project management experience across multiple teams
• Experience presenting to senior and executive stakeholders

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with cloud data warehouses
• Experience with dbt or similar data transformation technologies
• Data migration / platform modernization experience
• Data governance experience
• Analytics/data product experience
• Legacy data platform retirement
• Agile delivery experience
• PMP, CSM, SAFe, or equivalent certification

NOT a Fit If Your Experience Is Primarily:

• General IT Project Management without significant data experience
• Infrastructure/networking programs
• ERP implementations
• Application development programs without data engineering involvement
• PMO/project coordination without technical data exposure
• Business-only analytics/reporting without data engineering experience
