Job summary

Joby is seeking a Battery System Software Program Manager for embedded C++ and model-based design leadership in a safety-critical environment. You will own the software roadmap, drive DO-178C certification activities, and coordinate cross-functional teams including hardware and electrical PMs to ensure on-time system integration and flight release.

Based in San Carlos with occasional travel to Marina and Santa Cruz sites, you will guide sprint planning, architecture decisions, and test asset

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of technical program management for embedded software or integrated hardware/software development, managing requirements, priorities, scope, and schedule.
• Experience performing the Scrum master role for embedded or firmware teams, including managing multiple workstreams on different sprint cadences.
• Experience delivering software under a formal safety-critical process (DO-178C preferred; ISO 26262 / ASIL D functional safety is a strong equivalent).
• Deep familiarity with the embedded software development lifecycle (C++, real-time targets).
• Strong track record of managing complex cross-functional programs and dependencies across teams you don't directly control.
• Clear, well-structured communication tailored to engineers to executives.

Responsibilities

• Single point of accountability for Battery System software program execution across embedded C++ and model-based design.
• Translate architecture discussions into well-scoped workstreams and manage risks.
• Run scrum for BMS flight and Ground Charging software teams across cadences.
• Manage model-based design lifecycle and HIL verification activities.
• Oversee DO-178C certification program with certification partner and FAA designee.
• Coordinate delivery into system-level integration and test environments.
• Release coordination with broader Joby software org and fleet infrastructure.
