John Hancock is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) with two primary functions of equal importance. First, to lead a strategic portfolio of AI, Salesforce, and second Sales Enablement initiatives supporting Distribution and Sales Technology transformation. The TPM will serve as the central coordination point across Business, Product, Technology, Architecture, Data, Security, Finance, Operations, and external partners to deliver AI-powered sales capabilities, Salesforce modernization, mobile experiences, and producer productivity solutions.
Position Responsibilities
- Initiative management: Overseeing the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for initiatives that support John Hancock Insurance priorities, from initiation and delivery through implementation, stabilization, and post-launch support across policyholder, producer, and operations journeys. - Delivery: Responsible and accountable for all aspects of technology delivery, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, closure, and post-initiative evaluation, to meet scope, budget, schedule, regulatory, operational-readiness, and customer commitments.
- Technical expertise: Using their background in understanding software engineering and technology to implement technology strategies and ensure effective software delivery
- Salesforce & Sales Enablement responsibilities includes: Lead delivery of Salesforce modernization initiatives. Support Distribution Modernization, Territory Management enhancements, and RVP Assignment modernization. Drive adoption of AI-enabled sales capabilities within Salesforce. Coordinate mobile, web, and desktop sales experiences.
- Cross-functional leadership: Providing cross-functional leadership and building alignment for efforts such as product architecture and synchronizing the ask with the IT organization service areas to deliver services. Technical risk management: Identifying and mitigating technical risks that could impact project success
- Value Creation: Works closely with Business Initiative lead to build schedule, milestones, goals, and scope by aligning and incorporating technology aspects from components, solutions, feasibility and delivery. People & Culture: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, while actively driving alignment and productivity for aligned Team
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of technical program management expertise in related field
- 3+ years delivering technology solutions in the life insurance industry (required), with direct leadership over and exposure to innovative AI-based solutions and concepts and downstream capabilities (preferred).
- Familiarity with life insurance-related regulatory and business concepts and the operational cadence of product changes and their impacts to new business operations and underwriting
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage through creative tension
- Ability to manage execution plans to a budget and to provide regular updated financial forecasts for labor and non-labor expenses
- Familiarity with AI concepts, principles and governance from use case and outcome identification to adoption and monitoring
- Applied generative AI delivery expertise, including the ability to lead solutions using large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, model evaluation, guardrails, and production monitoring within a secure, governed enterprise environment.

- Strong verbal and communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision and the ability to translate the outcomes into possibilities, options and execution
- Comfortable with leading communications including presentations to senior leadership, sponsors and stakeholders for business cases and roadmaps

- Ability to design and manage integrations across a technology ecosystem (product/rate data sources, rules engines, document generation, e-signature, CRM/portal, case management), including API contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility.
