Job summary

The D. E. Shaw Group seeks a technical product manager for its Middle and Back Office Technology (MBOT) team to manage the technical relationship between Compliance and a key vendor.

The role blends vendor relationship management with technical product oversight, with potential to expand into wider compliance technology across trading, operations and software development groups. You'll collaborate with vendor teams and internal product and development groups, and with Compliance stakeholders to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; master’s degree a plus.
• 5–10 years in technical product management or vendor management in financial tech.
• Experience insourcing or transitioning apps from external vendors to internal teams.
• Engage with engineering and vendors on architecture, data flows; communicate tech concepts clearly.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; influence technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main technical liaison with the vendor for compliance tech and align on priorities.
• Gather requirements with Compliance and shape vendor roadmaps and release plans.
• Evaluate vendor offerings and coordinate user acceptance testing with sign-off.
• Plan multi-year transition of apps from vendor to internal teams and manage cutover.
• Track technical dependencies and oversee vendor interactions and risk/issues.
