Job summary

Mativ is seeking a Technical Process Engineer to support mill production teams and drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement across processes.

The role emphasizes hands-on process development, data analysis, capital project support, and Lean methods to increase efficiency and profitability on-site at the Whiting Mill; strong collaboration with production, maintenance, and engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, paper science or related field.
• Must be able to work on rotating weekends (typically 5 weekends per year).
• Must wear PPE when needed and travel through the facility to perform tasks in hot/humid areas.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety as a top priority and support mill-wide safety initiatives.
• Provide technical expertise to modify existing mill processes to improve quality and profitability.
• Improve process control and support new product development.
• Carry out cost optimization projects to reduce variability, improve quality and increase efficiency.
• Plan and supervise in-mill production trials and coordinate improvement efforts.
• Write technical reports documenting trials, results and cause/effect relationships.
• Assist in evaluating operation of major equipment and design modifications.
• Analyze process information systems to identify production trends and improvements.
• Support capital projects and non-capital process improvement initiatives.
• Use Lean concepts in changes and engage with cross-functional teams.
