Job summary

QAI Laboratories seeks a Technical Oversight Specialist to join our Building Products team. This remote US role focuses on evaluating test reports, code evaluation reports, and certification data to ensure products meet nationally recognized safety standards, with occasional travel to client sites.

The successful candidate will hold a PE designation, 5+ years as a senior engineer, knowledge of US and Canadian building codes, and strong documentation skills using MS Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply technical standards for product certification and testing.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Email, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Good Laboratory Practice skills essential for testing products.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate test, code, and certification reports to building products against recognized standards.
• Apply knowledge of building codes (US/Canada) to product evaluations and reporting.
• Develop evaluation criteria to assess compliance of construction products.
• Assist clients in identifying applicable requirements and validation steps.
• Design and document testing jig concepts and sample assemblies; record methods and results.
• Conduct product inspections and sampling, potentially traveling across North America.
• Mentor junior staff in technical evaluation practices and standards interpretation.
• Prepare clear, concise reports and communicate with clients and colleagues.
