Job summary

Shaw Industries seeks a Technical Manager to drive product development, innovation, and technical initiatives for flooring and turf segments. You will lead cross-functional teams from concept through commercialization, evaluating materials and processes to boost performance and cost efficiency.

This role requires strong leadership, analytical abilities, and the ability to influence stakeholders across Manufacturing, R&D, Marketing, and Sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; chemical engineering preferred.
• 3+ years in carpet, tile, turf, flooring, or related manufacturing environments, or 8+ years in broader manufacturing.
• Proven track record leading technical projects, new product development, or innovation initiatives.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership skills.
• Experience collaborating across functions and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen/FMEA or similar continuous improvement experience recommended.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Prior leadership, mentoring, or team development experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead product development and innovation across commercial flooring, turf, and specialty products.
• Evaluate new materials, technologies, and processes to improve performance and cost.
• Manage development from concept to commercialization with lab and production trials.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, R&D, Marketing, Quality, Sustainability, Sourcing, and Operations.
• Analyze data, present findings, and advise business leaders.
• Drive process improvements to raise quality and efficiency and reduce costs.
• Provide technical support and leadership for manufacturing operations.
• Lead intellectual property efforts including disclosures and patent activities.
• Build and coach a high-performing technical team culture.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
