Job summary

AM Glass Inc in NYC seeks a Technical Manager to lead the in-house technical and drafting team for commercial glazing and ornamental metal projects. You will translate complex architectural visions into buildable, code-compliant solutions and mentor staff to ensure quality and growth.

Responsibilities include overseeing design-assist drawings, maintaining robust 3D models, coordinating with PMs and estimators, and ensuring on-time delivery across curtain wall and panel systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in the metal and glass industry with custom/design-intent projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Bluebeam detailing.
• Advanced 3D modeling in SketchUp, Revit or equivalent.
• Strong leadership and cross-team coordination.

• Coordinate design-assist and shop drawings from concept to final approval for fabrication.

The Opportunity:

As the Technical Manager, you will serve as the premier design and drafting authority for high-profile commercial glazing and ornamental metal projects across New York City. You will lead an elite in-house technical department, transforming complex architectural visions into buildable, code-compliant solutions. How You Will Make an Impact:

• Lead the technical and drafting department by setting clear priorities and high-quality standards for all drawing deliverables.
• Coordinate complex design-assist and shop drawings from initial concept through final approval to ensure seamless fabrication.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the metal and glass industry, specifically focused on custom and design-intent projects.
• Proven proficiency in using AutoCAD and Bluebeam for detailing and plan review.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D modelling software such as SketchUp, Revit, or equivalent applications.
• Strong understanding of shop drawings, architectural plans, and glass or metal fabrication methodologies.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills required to coordinate effectively across internal teams, vendors, and clients.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Prior experience successfully leading or coordinating a technical, drafting, or design team.
• Associate degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field of study.
