Job summary
EPRI in Charlotte, NC/Knoxville, TN is seeking a Technical Leader I to research high-impact technical fields and advance grid planning methods. You will design and execute studies to evaluate future grid needs amid load growth, weather risks, and regulatory shifts, and develop intelligent planning workflows with Python automation.
Collaborate with utilities, ISO/RTOs, and stakeholders, mentor junior staff, contribute to proposals and reports, and communicate findings to technical and executive
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
- Experience with transmission planning, reliability, interconnection, or risk-based planning.
- Experience using power system simulation or probabilistic assessment methods.
- Proficiency with Python or similar programming tools to automate studies.
- Familiarity with utility, ISO/RTO, regulatory, and stakeholder planning processes.
- Familiarity with agentic AI in power system planning workflows is desired.
Responsibilities
- Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision.
- Performs and supports transmission planning, transmission reliability, resilience, and interconnection studies.
- Develops long-term planning scenarios and evaluates future transmission needs.
- Applies power system simulation, optimization, probabilistic assessment, and risk-based planning methods.
- Designs and implements Python-based automation to improve planning studies.
