Job summary

EPRI in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an AI Software Applications Lead for Power Systems to design, build, and support AI-native software for the energy sector. You will lead a product development team and align with Transmission Operations & Planning to craft enduring AI solutions.

Responsibilities include architecting AI frameworks, data visualization for power systems, and establishing guardrails with cyber security. A senior role requiring strong AI and cloud skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering with AI emphasis.
• 3+ years in AI development focused on power system applications.
• Experience with AI pipelines and orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of retrieval augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
• Hands-on with Azure cloud and HPC platforms.
• Proficient in vector search, embeddings and hybrid retrieval.
• Experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and containerized deployments.
• Strong Python development for AI pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead a product development team of researchers and software developers.
• Collaborate with Transmission Operations & Planning leadership to set strategy.
• Design, architect and deploy AI-native software for power systems.
• Develop frameworks for data visualization and simulation in power systems.
• Develop agentic frameworks for user interaction with power system software.
• Create testing, validation and guardrails for AI in energy infrastructure.
• Explore emerging technologies and partnerships for AI software.
