Job summary
Waymo is seeking a senior Software Engineer to advance the Waymo Driver platform. You will work on the PUDOs team, designing horizontal solutions, building evaluation frameworks, and mentoring engineers to improve autonomous driving capabilities.
The role requires a PhD/ Masters/ Bachelors in CS/ML/Robotics, 8+ years of software engineering, and strong data-driven design skills. Remote options may be available; compensation reflects location.
Qualifications
- PhD, Masters, or Bachelors in CS/ML/Robotics.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience in complex systems.
- Experience building scalable eval workflows and ML metrics.
- High-quality API design oriented to data-driven evaluation.
- Ability to collaborate across teams.
- Two or more years of management experience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Technical Leads and Technical Lead Managers to design and implement horizontal solutions for PUDOs.
- Build quantitative evaluation techniques of on-road performance to drive data-driven development.
- Collaborate with Product and Onboard stack teams.
- Provide mentorship for junior engineers on the team.
- Develop foundational frameworks for Waymo Driver capabilities.
- Contribute to solving challenging driving scenarios in long tail.
