Job summary

Altarum Institute is seeking a Technical Lead for Learning Platforms to provide hands-on leadership for the Direct Care Careers platform, a multi-tenant workforce system connecting direct care workers with employers across participating states.

This senior, hands-on engineering role focuses on web app development with LMS experience, SSO, APIs, and modern development practices. You will mentor the team, guide architecture, and drive AI-assisted workflows in a scalable, secure environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on web app development with modern tech.
• PHP and LMS integration experience.
• Experience leading developers technically while coding.
• APIs, SSO, and identity tech like OIDC or SAML.
• Experience in multi-tenant or shared-platform environments.
• Experience with CI/CD and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Write, review, test, and ship production-quality code as a senior team member.
• Lead day-to-day technical work of developers through code reviews and guidance.
• Design, build, and maintain LMS integrations including SSO, APIs, and data flows.
• Implement platform features and state-specific configurations in a multi-client environment.
• Lead architecture decisions and raise risks early with leadership.
• Champion CI/CD practices, testing, security, and accessible design.
