instinctools is seeking a Technical Lead (Golang) for a cargo services project. You will guide a small team of 5–6 engineers, balancing about 60% hands-on coding with 40% architectural governance.

Responsibilities include removing blockers, planning, preparing architectural artifacts for the Architecture Committee, and coordinating with platform teams and cross-functional stakeholders to scale the service in a distributed microservices environment using Kafka.

*instinctools is looking for a Technical Lead (Golang) for one of our clients.

Client: is a global mobility and urban services platform that allows users to book rides or other services and negotiate the fare directly with the service provider. It offers a variety of services including ride-hailing, intercity travel, delivery, and task assistance, operating in over 700 cities across 47 countries and is the second most downloaded mobility app in the world.

Project: a cargo services project – a standalone product with growing volume, deployed in a single region. Architecturally, it is part of a platform with other services, featuring integrations via Kafka and shared corporate components, such as a subscription model.

Responsibilities and tasks:

• Technical Lead for a small team (5-6 engineers), combining strong technical expertise with partial people management responsibilities. The role is expected to balance approximately 60% hands-on technical contribution (coding, design, and technical decision-making) and 40% management and operational support
• Remove team blockers, participate in estimation and planning activities, and support existing team processes and Agile ceremonies, including retrospectives
• Prepare architectural artifacts and proposals for the Architecture Committee, and collaborate with platform teams when required
• Proactively communicate and coordinate with other teams, elevate priorities when necessary, build alignment across stakeholders, and drive solution-oriented discussions
• Expectations and Scope:
• Drive scalability by adopting and transferring successful practices and technologies from other teams, rather than relying solely on team growth
• Act as a change agent, willing to experiment and introduce proven solutions and improvements

Our expectations of the ideal candidate:

• 7+ years of commercial backend engineering experience, including solving complex problems in high-load environments
• Strong backend expertise: commercial development in Go, design of scalable fault-tolerant services, high-load systems
• Experience developing and maintaining microservices in a distributed architecture
• Experience with Kafka and asynchronous service integrations
• Strong technical expertise with the ability to prepare architectural artifacts and proposals for architecture review committees
• Technical leadership experience with a team of 3-7 engineers (formal or acting)
• Experience working with a cross-platform team: backend + iOS + Android + QA
• Experience in adopting and transferring successful engineering practices, as well as driving change and continuous improvement within a product team
• Ability to work within defined engineering processes, quality gates, and release validation practices

High level of proactivity, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across the organization

Ability to balance hands-on technical contributions with Technical Lead responsibilities
