Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions in the U.S. is seeking a Technical Lead – API and Integration Development to join our Corporate IT team.

The role can base at Canton, MA; Boston, MA; Farmington, CT or Raleigh, NC on a hybrid schedule. You will drive API design, integration development, and code with a hands-on leadership approach, guiding a small team and collaborating with DevOps, Cloud Engineering, and security.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of Java development experience with strong proficiency in Spring Boot.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, OpenAPI/Swagger, and API versioning.
• Experience with Azure cloud services, including App Services, API Management, Event Hub, and Service Bus.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, MQ, and other messaging/integration platforms.
• Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC); familiarity with Auth0 or similar access management.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of RESTful APIs using Java Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement integration solutions using Azure Service Bus, Kafka, Event Hub, and MQ technologies.
• Apply and enforce secure coding practices, including authentication/authorization, encryption, and secure error handling.
• Guide the team in evaluating and implementing delivery models such as shared libraries, microservices, and discrete deployables.
• Develop Terraform scripts for infrastructure provisioning and automation in Microsoft Azure.
• Lead and mentor a small team of developers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
• Stay hands-on with development, code reviews, and troubleshooting while supporting team members.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud Engineering teams to deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement authentication and authorization flows using Auth0 and other providers.
• Promote agile development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.

The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Lead – API and Integration Development to join our Corporate IT team based in our Canton, MA; Boston, MA; Farmington, CT or Raleigh, NC offices on a hybrid schedule. We are seeking a technically strong and hands‑on Technical Lead to drive the development of APIs and integration solutions across our enterprise platforms. This role combines leadership, architecture, and development responsibilities, with a focus on Java Spring Boot, cloud- deployments, and secure, scalable integration patterns. You’ll lead a small team while remaining actively involved in coding and solution design, leveraging technologies such as Auth0, Microsoft Azure, Kafka, Event Hub, Service Bus, and Terraform. Some of the Technical Lead – API and Integration Development responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead the design and development of RESTful APIs usingJava Spring Boot, ensuring adherence toREST principles,OpenAPI standards, andversioning strategies.
• Architect and implement integration solutions usingAzure Service Bus,Kafka,Event Hub, andMQtechnologies.
• Apply and enforcesecure coding practices, including input validation, authentication/authorization, encryption, and secure error handling.
• Guide the team in evaluating and implementing delivery models such asshared libraries,microservices, anddiscrete deployables.
• Develop and maintainTerraform scriptsfor infrastructure provisioning and automation inMicrosoft Azure.
• Lead and mentor a small team of developers, fostering a collaborative and growth‑oriented environment.
• Stay hands‑on with development, code reviews, and troubleshooting while supporting team members in their technical and professional growth.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud Engineering teams to deploy and manage containerized applications usingDockerandKubernetes.

The expertise you bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 9+ years of experience inJava development, with strong proficiency inSpring Boot.
• 2+ years of experience in atechnical leadershiporteam leadrole.
• Strong understanding ofRESTful API design,OpenAPI/Swagger, andAPI versioning.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $124,000 - $164,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $144,000 - $169,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
