Job summary

Laurel School in Shaker Heights, OH, seeks a Technical Director for the Upper School Fall Play, Comedy of Errors. Rehearsals are ongoing with performances Nov 5–7 at 7:00 pm.

The TD will meet with the director and production team regularly and be on campus for rehearsals three days a week in September and early October. Rehearsal times run 3:30–5:30 pm until tech week, with additional hours as needed to meet technical goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in technical theatre preferred.
• Experience in sound design, lighting design, carpentry, and scenic painting.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on ladders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with designers to construct and install the set; oversee lighting and sound and props; supervise subcontractors as needed.
• Oversee and mentor student stage management and crew.
• Maintain the production space and ensure proper storage/management of equipment.
• All expenses should be approved by the Department Chair and kept within budget.
• Attend production meetings and meet with faculty as requested.
