Job summary

Code and Theory, LLC is seeking a Technical Director to lead the vision, architecture, and delivery of our data platform and engineering organization. This role drives technical strategy, standards, and staffing for a world-class data team serving analytics, predictive models, and generative AI across clients and the agency.

The leader will partner with executive stakeholders and the ML team, influence budgets, and define the culture and craft of the data organization while remaining hands-on as

Qualifications

• Ten-plus years in data engineering or adjacent disciplines.
• 3+ years leading teams or technical organizations.
• Experience designing and scaling data platforms from the ground up.
• Ability to set technical strategy and tie it to business outcomes.
• Experience activating data lakes into data-driven product backends.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision, architecture, and roadmap for Code and Theory’s data platform.
• Design and scale systems that collect, model, and activate data for analytics and AI.
• Translate business strategy into platform and data development with stakeholders.
• Contribute to budget and roadmap decisions and prioritize initiatives.
• Define standards and best practices for engineering quality across Python, SQL, and data workflows.
• Lead adoption of AI-powered coding and AI-enabled workflows across the engineering org.
• Hire, mentor, and grow engineers and leads; shape the data org culture.
• Represent the data organization to senior leadership and clients.
