Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Technical Design or related field.
  • Active or performance apparel experience, including knit and stretch fabrics and active product construction techniques preferred.
  • Strong understanding of performance fit and fit on the body in motion; familiarity with 3D design tools is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Apparel Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Pattern Making or related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional peers and external partners to ensure product is aligned with development strategies and business needs.
  • Develop clear, concise Tech Packs to include measurement worksheet and construction images to align with Design intent and Brand DNA.
  • Lead fit sessions, and evaluate samples to ensure product specifications, quality and construction standards are being executed.
  • Partner with design and suppliers to perfect fit, stretch recovery and seam construction on knit and performance fabrics, with a focus on sports bras, tops and leggings.
  • Follow the sample through fit approvals in development and production to ensure intent is met.
  • Communicate fit comments to suppliers to achieve desired corrections.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline product development and production processes, escalating when leadership involvement is needed.

Job Description NOTE: This position is located at Nordstrom's downtown Seattle headquarters and follows a hybrid work model, with four days in the office and one remote workday each week. We don’t just sell cutting‑edge fashion and accessories — we create them. Our talented fashion design team - Nordstrom Made - develops, designs, produces, and sources all Nordstrom‑brand products. From traditional to trendy, this team shapes the styles and looks our customers love. And now, we have an exciting opportunity to join this team. As a Technical Designer you will collaborate cross‑functionally to deliver the technical design aspects and process for your products - ensuring they meet the Nordstrom Made DNA. For Women's Active, you will focus on performance and lifestyle pieces, with an emphasis on sports bras, tops and leggings. If you are passionate and experienced in technical design and are detail‑oriented, obsessed with apparel development and committed to providing outstanding customer service, this may be the job for you.

A day in the life

You own this if you have…
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Technical Design or related field

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below has been provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different for other locations. Pay offers are dependent on the location, as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$80,000.00 - $132,000.00 Annual
