Job Description

Company: PracticeSuite

Department: Sales / Technology

Location: Tampa, Florida

Work Arrangement: On-site

Reports To: Head of Sales

Position Overview

PracticeSuite is seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Technical Demo Engineer to build, configure, maintain, and deliver demonstration environments for our healthcare software solutions.

This individual will be responsible for preparing realistic, functional demo environments that showcase PracticeSuite's Electronic Health Record (EHR), practice management, medical billing, and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) capabilities. The role requires hands‑on technical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to translate product functionality into realistic healthcare workflows.

The Technical Demo Engineer will work closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and other internal teams to ensure demonstration environments are reliable, accurate, and tailored to different medical specialties and prospect requirements.

This is a technical, non‑quota‑carrying role. The primary responsibility is to create and maintain high-quality demonstration environments and ensure they function correctly during customer presentations. The role does not carry direct sales or closing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
1. Demo Environment Development and Configuration
  • Build, configure, and maintain demonstration environments for PracticeSuite's healthcare software products.
  • Set up realistic demo accounts, user profiles, permissions, workflows, schedules, patient records, and billing scenarios using approved synthetic or test data.
  • Configure demo environments to reflect the operational needs of different medical specialties and practice types.
  • Create repeatable demonstration scenarios that showcase end-to-end workflows across clinical, administrative, and financial functions.
  • Prepare environments for prospect‑specific demonstrations based on requirements provided by the sales team.
  • Ensure demo data is consistent, realistic, and appropriate for the intended presentation.
  • Maintain separate demonstration configurations when needed for different products, use cases, or audiences.
2. Technical Demonstration Execution
  • Conduct product demonstrations for prospective customers alongside the sales team or other designated presenters.
  • Navigate the software confidently and demonstrate workflows accurately, including scheduling, patient registration, clinical documentation, billing, claims, and payment processes.
  • Execute predefined demonstration scripts while adapting the technical flow to address specific customer requirements.
  • Ensure environments, user accounts, integrations, and workflows are tested before scheduled demonstrations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during preparation and, when necessary, during live demonstrations.
  • Explain technical functionality and workflow behavior clearly when questions arise.
  • Support remote and in‑person demonstrations as required.
3. Technical Troubleshooting and Quality Assurance
  • Test demonstration environments regularly to identify configuration issues, defects, broken workflows, and inconsistent data.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to access permissions, environment configuration, test data, browser behavior, and supported integrations.
  • Document recurring problems and coordinate with Engineering or Product Management when issues require deeper investigation.
  • Validate that demonstrations accurately represent supported product functionality.
  • Establish repeatable testing and readiness checklists to reduce the risk of failures during customer presentations.
  • Maintain backup demonstration environments or recovery procedures where appropriate.
4. Product and Workflow Knowledge
  • Develop a strong technical understanding of PracticeSuite's EHR, practice management, billing, and RCM products.
  • Learn how healthcare practices use the software across clinical, administrative, and financial workflows.
  • Understand dependencies between product modules and how information moves across workflows.
  • Keep demonstration environments updated as features, configurations, and product releases change.
  • Identify opportunities to improve demo realism, usability, consistency, and technical reliability.
  • Translate product requirements into functional demonstration scenarios.
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Sales to understand upcoming demonstrations, customer requirements, and desired workflows.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to understand product functionality, limitations, and upcoming changes.
  • Coordinate with Implementation and Customer Success teams to understand common configuration scenarios and real‑world use cases.
  • Maintain documentation covering demo configurations, test accounts, workflows, setup procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collect feedback from internal teams and incorporate improvements into future demonstrations.
  • Support the creation of standardized demo templates and reusable technical assets.
6. Demo Infrastructure and Process Improvement
  • Maintain an organized inventory of demonstration environments, configurations, test data, and access credentials using approved company tools.
  • Develop reusable templates, scripts, checklists, and automated setup procedures where practical.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual configuration and improve demo preparation time.
  • Follow company security policies and ensure demonstration environments do not expose production data or sensitive customer information.
  • Assist with evaluating tools and technical approaches that improve demo environment reliability and scalability.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field ; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in software configuration, technical support, QA testing, software implementation, demo engineering, or a similar technical role.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience configuring and troubleshooting software applications.
  • Ability to understand application workflows, user permissions, data relationships, and system configuration.
  • Experience creating test environments, test data, or repeatable software demonstration scenarios.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple demo requests and deadlines.
  • Comfortable learning complex software products and explaining functionality during demonstrations.
  • Experience with SaaS applications and multi‑module business software.
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL for querying, validating, or preparing test data.
  • Basic understanding of APIs, integrations, authentication, and data exchange.
  • Experience with QA testing, test case development, defect tracking, or software release validation.
  • Familiarity with browser developer tools, environment configuration, and application troubleshooting.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with EHR, practice management, medical billing, or RCM software is a strong advantage.
  • Experience creating synthetic data and maintaining secure test environments.
Performance Metrics
  • Successful and timely preparation of demo environments.
  • Reliability and availability of demonstration environments.
  • Number and severity of technical issues encountered during live demonstrations.
  • Accuracy and completeness of configured workflows.
  • Time required to prepare and customize demo environments.
  • Quality of technical documentation and reusable demo assets.
  • Responsiveness to demo requests and internal support needs.
  • Effectiveness of troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Feedback from Sales, Product, and other internal stakeholders.
Role Boundaries

This position is primarily technical and focused on demonstration environment preparation and execution. The employee will not own sales quotas, prospect negotiations, pricing discussions, or deal closing.

The role supports the sales process by ensuring that product demonstrations are technically sound, realistic, reliable, and aligned with the prospect's requested workflows.
