Job description

As a Technical Compliance Specialist, you’ll work on building and supporting a compliance program for the Product Design and Marketing teams. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally across the company. You’ll tackle novel problems and be responsible for multiple projects with varying levels of urgency and impact. You’ll also research, experiment, and collaborate on new solutions. Successful candidates are passionate about privacy, can work through challenging problems independently, and enjoy context switching between projects. Successful candidates also have experience in successfully driving complex regulatory asks that require input and prioritization across multiple organizations. The ability to learn and grow quickly is very valued in this position. You will be exposed to new systems, pitching alternative ideas, and actively working on the future of privacy at our organization. The primary duty of the Technical Compliance Specialist is to serve as the program lead for privacy-by-design implementation across Product, Design, and Marketing while staying closely connected to and taking advice from multiple legal teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., DMA, GDPR, CCPA) into actionable business facing programs that are auditable and sustainable.
  • Define and drive privacy roadmaps, including data mapping, risk assessments, and incident preparedness.
  • Monitor evolving privacy regulations and ensure technical controls meet or exceed compliance expectations.
  • Support internal audits and external assessments by organizing and communicating technical privacy safeguards.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in program or project management, ideally in privacy, security, or data governance.
  • Strong understanding of global privacy laws and their technical implications (e.g., data minimization, purpose limitation, encryption, access control).
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 27701, NIST Privacy Framework, or privacy impact assessments (PIAs).
  • Technical fluency—able to engage in conversations with engineers and understand systems architecture, even if not writing code.
  • Works with LLMs to build and maintain web apps: writes clear prompts, reviews and tests generated code, connects apps to databases, deploys to internal hosting, and can verify output as accurate.
  • Proficient with databases and data retrieval, including SQL and Spark
  • Experience leading projects that involve AI/ML integration into automated marketing messaging and consumer facing applications.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, ideally with product, engineering, legal, and compliance stakeholders.
  • Experience working with privacy and legal teams to evaluate global data usage.
  • Flexibility to deal with rapidly changing, time-constrained schedules.
  • Experience in working across different global cultures a plus.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and to all levels of management.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.S. / M.S. in relevant or quantitative discipline: Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or Economics
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPT, CIPP/US, or CISM.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and data governance tools.
  • Experience in incident response or data breach management.
