Job summary

Pellissippi State Community College is seeking a Technical Clerk I to support the admissions process for incoming and returning students and their families. You will process admissions documentation and help determine when a student is ready to register for classes.

Essential duties include scanning documents, processing visa documents with International Admissions, determining residency, and assisting colleagues across campuses with admissions questions.

Qualifications

  • Banner experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records.

Classification: 2-hybrid
Pay Rate: $33,000-$35,590/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.
Required Documents Needed to Upload at Time of Application: Resume, transcripts and three professional references.
Reference check requirements:

Three (3) professional references, two (2) of which should be former or current supervisors and (1) professional reference.

Personal references (friends, clergy, customers, relatives) are not considered acceptable references.

A professional reference such as a previous or current co-worker may be used as one of the references.

Position Summary:

The overall purpose of this job is to provide assistance with the enrollment process for incoming and returning students and their families, and to process all admissions documentation. Technical clerks also determine when a student is ready to register for classes and if the student is admissible to the College.

Essential Functions:
  • 55% Process, evaluate and scan documents required for admission, including but not limited to applications for admission, transcripts from high schools and colleges, and standardized test scores.
  • 5% Work with the International Admissions Specialist to process documents for students attending on visa. This requires correspondence with the student and evaluating international documents.
  • 15% Determine residency status for applicants and interpret immunization records.
  • 25% Assist colleagues in areas such as the Start Strong Center, Financial Aid, Site Campuses, and Advising with all admissions-related questions. Other duties as assigned to fulfill the strategic priorities and mission of the College.
Job Requirements:

High School diploma or GED equivalent 2 years of office and/or customer service experience. Having higher education/Banner experience is a plus. Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience. The College reserves the right to assign every employee work that fulfills the strategic priorities and mission of the College.

Skills/Abilities:

Strong attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and maintain organized records of applications, student information, and communications. Effective written and verbal communication. A good understanding of database management systems, and other software used in the admissions process to manage and track applications and data. Solution finding and troubleshooting skills. Able to engage in the college's mission and values.

Physical Demands:

Work is primarily performed at a desk using a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment and requires regular communication with students, faculty, and staff through effective means of communication. The position involves reviewing, interpreting, and processing electronic and paper records, including transcripts and immunization records. Work is performed in a climate-controlled indoor office environment with bright overhead lighting and exposure to dust.

Standard office setting exposure.
