Job summary

Yanfeng in Novi, MI is seeking a Technical Buyer to manage procurement of spare parts and components, optimize inventory, and drive strategic sourcing initiatives. The role emphasizes pricing, supplier management, and continuous improvement of procurement systems to support CapEx projects.

You will work with IT, plant operations, and suppliers to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and deliver cost savings across North American facilities. Travel to customer sites may be required as needed.

Technical Buyer

Job Description

This role supports the procurement and management of spare parts and components to ensure optimalequipment and tooling performance. Key responsibilities include inventory and stockroom optimization, pricing and ordering administration, budget planning, supplier agreement management, and continuous improvement of tracking and procurement systems. As organizational needs evolve, the role will increasingly focus on strategic sourcing, process improvement, and other high-value activities as directed by CapEx Procurement Management.

Main Responsibilities:

Supervisory Capacity: None

• Supporting the Yanfeng team to help minimize Yanfeng machine/tooling downtime as well as minimizing cost for spare/component pricing.
• Will leadworld-class pricing agreements for key component/spares.
• Supports continuous improvement,changes to software/systems, and preparing associated reports to track key KPI’s (deliverables).
• Support trouble shooting system/software problem/enhancements and collaborate with the system/team/IT to drive improvements/efficiency.
• Support Procurement/plant operations with various projects as assigned by Yanfeng Procurement management.
• Track and report savings generatedby properly maintaining spare parts inventory, reduced down-time, purchase of spare parts/components.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Support equipment/tooling transfersbetween Yanfeng plants.
• Supports Yanfeng disposition (scrap) process/procedure and understand/utilize the software (as needed).
• Eventual focus on 24x7 emergency component/downtimeSYSTEM/partner opportunities.
• As necessary, search for alternative solutions for components that meet required timing/specification needs from w/in China.
• As necessary, support invoice/payment issues for spare parts suppliers.
• As required, support shipping, customs, logistics concerns tied to component purchases.
• Support (as needed) audits of North Americanplants maintenance departments for PM accuracy, PM Content, spare parts, manpower, etc defined by the North America maintenance audit standard.
• Aids AME team & plant teams in creation of new PM tasks and PM schedules for new and existing Yanfeng managed equipment/tooling.
• Supports (as needed) day to day plant technical support related to EAM/system software and procedures.
• Basic understanding to support training of equipment/tooling spare parts crib inventory software.
• Support (as needed) optimization of system PM’s to minimize labor hours vs required PM w/in maintenance department.
• Basic understanding of weekly maintenance KPIs (deliverables) for all plants in NA.
• Basic understanding of Injection Molding Machines, auxiliaryequipment, and Yanfeng managed equipment/tooling,
• Supports (as needed) plant maintenance audits to ensure that all Yanfeng plant maintenance departments are operating as efficiently as possible, staffing is adequate, and maintenance is being performed correctly on the Yanfeng equipment bythe plant maintenance teams.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Area of Study:Procurement, Supply Management, IT Systems, Business.

Qualification:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experiencein technical procurement.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Self-motivated, team player, able to negotiate and lead/encourage teammates and suppliers.
• Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites,including industrial manufacturing plants.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred experience using ERP (Enterprise Resourcing Planning) systems like QAD, EAM, SAP, DSSI…
• Preferred experience with automotive equipment & facilities maintenance preferably plasticinjection molding and/or assembly experience.
• Understanding of procedures needed to maintain automotive production and facilities equipment used in the successful operation of an automotiveplant
• Basic understanding of tooling/equipment maintenance and Preventative Maintenance (PM) with automotive equipment/tooling.
• Equipment project management, cradle to grave (Specifications/RFQ’s to Decommissioning the tooling/equipment).
