Job summary

Koppers Inc. in Pittsburgh seeks a Technical Business Analyst to partner with Finance and Operations to define business requirements and design solutions for enterprise applications throughout their lifecycle.

The role acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT, enabling scalable, compliant processes across Finance, Procure to Pay, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, with strong emphasis on data accuracy and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, information technology, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, preferably in manufacturing or chemical industries ideally with MRP exposure.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes across Finance, Procure to Pay, Supply Chain, and/or Manufacturing.
• Experience with financial processes preferred: Month-end close, Financial reconciliation, SOX controls, Audit support, Public Company environment.
• Experience with costing concepts (e.g., inventory, average/standard costing) and account reconciliation processes, with ability to trace transactions from subledger through to General Ledger for analysis.

• Develop and maintain process documentation, job aids, and best practices.
• Communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Support change management efforts including training development, communications, and user adoption activities.

Job Responsibilities

The Technical Business Analyst partners with Finance and Operations to define business requirements, design solutions, and support the full lifecycle of enterprise business applications, including implementation and post-implementation enhancement and stabilization. This role serves as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT, and external partners, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

• Lead requirements gathering sessions and translate business needs into clear functional specifications and system solutions
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to design, improve, and standardize business processes

• Strong SQL understanding with the ability to query, analyze, and validate data across enterprise systems; experience writing complex queries, troubleshooting data issues, performing data reconciliation, and supporting business process analysis and reporting.
• Proven experience writing functional requirements and supporting testing cycles
• Ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable solutions
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
