Job summary

Hercules Offshore is seeking an experienced Technical Authority – Structural to provide leadership and assurance across FPSO and offshore operations. This senior role focuses on maintaining naval architecture standards, ensuring safe and efficient design throughout the asset lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Engineering and extensive experience in the offshore industry. The position offers the opportunity to mentor engineers and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Hercules Offshore is looking for an experienced Technical Authority – Structural to provide technical leadership, governance, and assurance across our FPSO and offshore portfolio. In this senior role you will be the custodian of naval architecture standards, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient design and operation throughout the asset lifecycle while influencing how the discipline continues to evolve.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Own and continuously develop the company’s structural technical standards, defining minimum requirements for projects and operations
• Provide expert technical guidance to projects, asset operations, and the wider technical organization
• Lead and support verification and assurance activities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and class rules
• Review and approve technical deviations, engineering methods, tools, and key discipline deliverables
• Act as the main technical interface with classification societies, regulators, and industry bodies
• Capture and implement lessons learned from projects and operations to drive continuous improvement
• Mentor and support the professional development of Structural Engineers across the organization
• Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated, optimized solutions

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in offshore Oil & Gas or a closely related industry working with floating production facilities
• Strong experience across both project and operational phases of offshore facilities, preferably FPSOs
• Previous experience as a Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Technical Authority / Subject Matter Expert
• Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multinational environments
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience may also be considered

Skills

• Deep expertise in structural, construction and materials engineering
• Strong understanding of industry rules and standards related to Structural such as ABS, DNV, API, AISC, NORSOK, ISO and EC
• Knowledge of structural analysis softwares such as SACS, SASAM Genie, STAADPRO etc.
• Solid grasp of the technical, contractual, and commercial aspects of FPSO design, construction, and operation
