Job description

Job Summary In this role, you will respond directly to the Offshore Structural Lead and support the Asset Based Business Line within the Engineering function. Your expertise will be vital in performing structural calculations, designing lifting and rigging systems, and ensuring the integrity of seafastening solutions for deepwater and shallow water field developments.

Responsibilities
  • Design incorporated subsea structures, installation aids, and seafastening systems for offshore field development projects.
  • Conduct structural analyses, calculations, design, verification, and studies as assigned by the Subsea Structural Lead.
  • Provide data and specifications to Designers for creating 3D and 2D design drawings; review and approve these drawings.
  • Interface with other project specialists (installation, geotechnical, flowline, subsea equipment, fabrication) and design teams.
  • Gain experience with design limitations and constraints related to offshore installation vessels and procedures.
  • Support the Subsea Structural Lead in coordinating and reviewing technical activities internally and externally.
  • Participate in project meetings, engineering coordination, client and contractor interface meetings, technical reviews, HSE, and risk assessments.
  • Design structural systems focusing on robustness, cost-effectiveness, constructability, and safety.
  • Select appropriate design loads, boundary conditions, and materials to optimize installation and operational configurations.
  • Ensure structural designs meet all functional, constructability, and offshore instability requirements.
  • Verify that permanent structures are reliable over the field’s lifespan, considering redundancy, corrosion, fatigue, and maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to confirm load cases, fabrication assumptions, and technical solutions.
  • Perform and supervise structural analyses using industry-standard software (FEA suites such as SACS, ABAQUS, or ANSYS).
  • Provide data for the creation of detailed design drawings and supervise the review and approval process.
  • Review client technical documentation and respond to client comments.
  • Contribute to defining structural design premises, writing reports, and calculation notes.
  • Supervise the preparation of bills of quantities (BOQ) and material take-offs (MTO).
Requirements
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a structural engineer within the offshore oil and gas or wind industries.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Technical expertise in structural analysis, design, and verification, with experience using FEA software such as SACS, ABAQUS, or ANSYS.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools including AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks.
  • Willingness to travel abroad based on project needs and scope.
