Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking an Assistant to the Technical Manager to support the Stage and Scene Shop for internal and external events at UM‑Flint. The role provides hands-on experience in prop setup, lighting, audio, and scenic construction.

Onsite work with opportunities to learn backstage operations, operate a lighting and sound switchboard, and assist in building scenic elements for Theatre & Dance productions. Training is on the job, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• On-the-job training provided.

Desired Qualifications*

• An interest in theatre and/or live event production.
• Any level of experience with backstage work, A/V equipment, lighting, and construction is preferred but not required. You will be trained on the job.

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
