Job summary

Portland General Electric is seeking a Technical Training Specialist to design, develop and deliver apprenticeship training programs. You will collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to assess needs, build role-based content, and coordinate training initiatives across the organization.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 2+ years in training/operations, and experience with adult education and utility operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering or technology or related field.
• Two+ years in training and/or operations, depending on position.
• Completion of a trades Apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience in adult education in an operational environment preferred.
• Experience with utility operations (transmission, distribution, balancing authority, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Apprenticeship Team and stakeholders to assess requirements and timelines.
• Designs and develops role-based training content for Apprenticeship participants.
• Coordinates training courses and materials; ensures alignment with brand and standards.
• Facilitates instructor-led training on complex topics with SME support.
• Administers multiple apprenticeship programs and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Uses learning technologies and instructional design concepts to improve training outcomes.
• Manages projects from concept to completion with attention to timelines and budgets.
