Job summary

MilliporeSigma is seeking a seasoned technical sales professional to drive opportunities in upstream cell culture and PAT with focus on RAMAN and automated sampling systems. You will collaborate with MSAT and local account managers to advance customer opportunities in the western United States.

The role demands 5+ years of biopharma upstream experience, strong technical and negotiation skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams across boundaries and cultures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years related hands-on upstream cell culture and/or PAT experience in the biopharma industry.
  • Experience with automated systems
  • Extensive knowledge of Biotech upstream processing with cursory understanding of downstream applications
  • Good listening skills with the ability to analyze and respond to given situations quickly and effectively
  • Good presentation, excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to represent our organization in front of clients
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environment
  • Effective in working across boundaries and functions with the ability to work effectively internationally
  • Ownership, demonstrated ability to work on his/her own initiative under limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Identify and convert new business opportunities around automated sampling and RAMAN that include Multi-Use and Single-Use Systems and related services within the region.
  • Manage the overall selling process and cycle, in close relationship with all business partners.
  • Provide technical expertise and business acumen for complex investment projects from customers.
  • Act as a team leader for custom designed equipment and capital projects.
  • Deal with decision makers, evaluating budget and monitoring the status of the decision-making process.
  • Position portfolio, develop and present commercial quotations, and answer technical questions at all decision layers.
  • Convert deals by driving negotiations on price and contractual terms.
  • Be responsible for territory sales target.
  • Be a solution enabler, expanding MilliporeSigma offering to wider customer expectations.

Your Role

The candidate should have strong experience in upstream operations, scale-up and tech transfer a plus; Process Development and manufacturing scale bioreactors, Process Analytical Technology (PAT) specifically RAMAN and sampling systems. The technical sales position will work with the local account managers and MSAT teams to support customer opportunities for MilliporeSigma’s MAST and ProCellics RAMAN in the western United States.

Minimum Qualifications
Who You Are
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years related hands-on upstream cell culture and/or PAT experience in the biopharma industry.
  • Experience with automated systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree science or engineering degree and / or a Master of Business Administration.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in engineering and/or selling to the Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical Industry, and single-use manufacturing is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to establish strong partnerships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience working in a sales/marketing organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively to diverse audiences through both written and oral communications.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and validation
Travel Requirement
  • 30-40% domestic travel to customer locations within Western US & Canada and possible limited international travel as needed.

Pay Range for this position: $100,400-$167,300

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
