Job summary

METTLER TOLEDO AutoChem Inc. seeks a Technical & Application Consultant to deliver high‑value technical solutions for pharma, biotech and chemical customers. You will partner with Account Managers to align product, software, and services with customer needs and growth objectives.

You should have a strong background in Process Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in chemical R&D, and experience with PAT. SAP experience is a plus; travel to regional sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Process Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; PhD preferred.
• 5+ years experience in Chemical R&D within pharma/chemicals.
• Experience with Process Analytical Technology (PAT) related to particle processes.
• Experience collaborating with sales teams and customers.
• Strong analytical, creative and problem-solving skills; SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify customer needs and develop opportunities through technical engagement across pre- and post-sale activities.
• Develop site penetration plans with the sales team and METTLER TOLEDO organization.
• Design targeted micro-campaigns with Inside Sales and Account Managers.
• Generate, qualify, and advance opportunities for AutoChem products, software, and services.
• Provide consultative, value-added support throughout the sales cycle including visits and seminars.
• Maintain knowledge of AutoChem offerings, competitors, and complementary solutions.
• Translate findings into actionable input for Product Management.

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As Our Technical & Application Consultant (TAC) you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and supporting high-value technical solutions for customers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and (fine-) chemical industries. You will partner closely with Account Managers to provide trusted technical consulting, build strong relationships with scientists and engineers, and management in the chemical R&D space, and drive sustainable regional AutoChem growth. You will also help align the AutoChem product, software, and services portfolio with customer business drivers and support growth through consultative technical engagement and cross-functional collaboration. Additional responsibilities:

• Identify customer needs and proactively develop business opportunities through technical and application-focused engagement across pre- and post-sale activities.
• Develop and maintain strategic site penetration plans for focus accounts in partnership with the sales team and greater METTLER TOLEDO organization.
• Design and execute targeted micro-campaigns in collaboration with Inside Sales and Account Managers to grow regional opportunities.
• Generate, qualify, and advance opportunities for AutoChem products, software, and services through technical close, based on clear value statements.
• Apply strong application expertise to serve as a trusted technical resource for customers and internal teams.
• Deliver consultative, value added support throughout the sales cycle, including customer visits, seminars, training, technical consultations, and AFT support (Application Feasibility Test).
• Maintain strong knowledge of AutoChem offerings, competitive technologies, and complementary solutions.
• Translate application feasibility findings, industrial experience, and technical literature into actionable input for Product Management.

What You Need to Succeed

• Master’s degree in Process Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field required; PhD preferred. MBA or other business degree is an asset.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Chemical R&D space within the pharmaceutical chemical industry: chemistry, engineering, process development/safety
• Experience working with sales teams in prior roles
• Experience in process development, crystallization, particle characterization, or related chemical engineering and chemistry disciplines
• Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, specialty chemical, or related industries
• Experience with Process Analytical Technology (PAT) related to particle processes (including crystallization, precipitation, emulsions, flocculation, and suspensions) as well as chemical and engineering processes from laboratory development through scale-up and manufacturing is advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while independently managing time-sensitive projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, creative, assertive, and problem-solving skills
• SAP experience preferred
