Job summary

Bed Bath & Beyond is seeking a senior technical accountant to join our finance team in the Dallas area. The role focuses on maintaining US GAAP proficiency and SEC compliance, preparing memos, and interpreting new accounting standards.

The candidate will support stock-based compensation, equity investments, and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring SOX controls and internal processes meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical accounting research experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Experience with public company accounting and SOX compliance.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience with SEC filings and complex technical accounting topics.
• Experience working across cross-functional teams and external reporting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of technical proficiency in US GAAP and SEC Regulations to ensure reporting requirements are satisfied.
• Prepare quarterly and ad-hoc technical accounting memos to ensure accounting activities are regulatory and US GAAP compliant.
• Research, interpret, and document new accounting standards for proper application and internal controls.
• Provide technical accounting consultation to internal stakeholders on US GAAP implementations and special projects.
• Manage accounting for stock-based compensation programs and equity investments; support cross-functional initiatives.
• Assist external reporting team with quarterly SEC reporting and regulatory matters as needed.
• Facilitate internal training on compliance with accounting rules and regulations.
