Job summary

Bed Bath & Beyond is seeking an experienced Senior Controller to lead the monthly close, consolidate multiple entities, and oversee SEC reporting. You will drive internal controls, improve close efficiency, and partner with cross-functional teams on ERP and automation initiatives.

Qualified candidates will have 12+ years in accounting for public companies, strong US GAAP knowledge, CPA preferred, and a proven track record in consolidations and SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience including public company controllership or equivalent.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX, internal controls, and audit processes.
• Experience implementing or optimizing ERP, consolidation, close management, reporting, or workflow automation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and strong control.
• Own complex consolidations across entities, business lines, and intercompany relations.
• Oversee consolidated financial statement preparation and audit support for SEC filings.
• Maintain and improve close procedures, reconciliations, reviews, and control documentation.
• Partner with technology, finance, operations, and leadership on ERP, reporting, and automation initiatives.
• Champion automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and strengthen controls.
• Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing accounting team.
• Support SOX compliance and internal control design/execution.
