Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems LLC in Massachusetts seeks a Technical Accounting and Internal Controls Lead to build and operate the management-owned internal controls capability. This senior, hands-on role translates the roadmap into working controls and supports audits and scalable growth.

You will own the controls program, map significant accounts, develop narratives and flowcharts, drive remediation, and collaborate across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, IT, and program teams, including during ERP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA required.
• 10+ years in accounting, audit, internal controls, or advisory, with hands-on responsibility for technical accounting and control design or SOX readiness.

Responsibilities

• Own the controls program with a risk-based roadmap and governance.
• Define scope by mapping significant accounts, processes, systems, assertions, risks, controls, and owners.
• Build narratives, flowcharts, risk-and-control matrices, entity-level controls, and policies.
• Drive remediation and readiness including operating-effectiveness testing and future SOX requirements.
• Lead technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions and translate to policies and journal entries.
• Embed controls into operations and systems across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, IT, People, Supply Chain, and ERP implementations.
• Coordinate assurance as primary liaison to external auditors and advisors.
